Group raises alarm over increasing gender-based violence online

A civil society organisation has raised an alarm over incessant gender-based violence against women on the internet.

Executive Director, TechHerNG, Chioma Agwuegbo in an interview said violence against women in the online space goes beyond revenge porn.

She named other acts of violence to include bullying, doxing, and deep fakes, amongst others, perpetrated against women and other vulnerable groups on the internet.

She said, “Online violence goes beyond revenge porn; it is bullying, doxing, deep fakes, amongst other forms of violence perpetrated against women and other vulnerable groups on the internet.

“TechHer has invested a lot of resources to demystify technology for young women and girls through our school tour projects”.
