Nigeria has been selected to host the fourth edition of the Intra‑Africa Trade Fair in 2025, according to official reports. The Intra‑African trade fair provides a unique platform for businesses to access an integrated African market of over 1.3 billion people and a Gross Domestic Product exceeding US$3.5 trillion, created under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The announcement was made by Minister of Trade and Investment Niyi Adebayo during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) Ultra‑Modern Shopping Centre. The centre, situated on 10 hectares along Airport Road in Abuja, was highlighted as a timely development that will boost economic growth and development in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.

Minister Adebayo explained that Nigeria’s request to host the fair was granted after a successful bid submission, allowing African buyers and sellers to meet and explore business opportunities. “I am happy to inform you that Nigeria has been selected to possibly host the fourth Intra‑Africa Trade Fair 2025, following a successful bid to host the event,” he said.

Represented by the Director of Trade, Suleiman Audu, the minister noted that the ACCI shopping centre will complement government efforts to enhance Nigeria’s image and serve as a hub for diverse businesses and networking, aligning with the AfCFTA agenda. He emphasized that the exchange of goods and services generates momentum for economic growth, and the project is designed to promote the development of businesses in the FCT, support the private sector, and sustain progress in commercial activities across Nigeria.

Finally, the minister called for increased public‑private sector collaboration to reposition the nation’s economy and ensure sustainable prosperity.
