Mmobousi still in Sheffield takeover bid

As per journalist, Osasu Obayiuwana, Nigerian tech entrepreneur and billionaire Dozy Mmobuosi is still pursuing his ambition of taking over English championship club, Sheffield United.

The 43-year-old businessman had tabled a £90 million bid for the Blades having held talks with the present owner, Prince Abdullah last year.

After the interest was made known last year, talks about the deal have gone down following what Mmobousi perceived as excessive scrutiny in the takeover process.

However, it appears the deal will eventually see the light of day, as the billionaire has expressed his readiness to provide the necessary details that will see it through.

“While I have to respect the fact that the conversation was off the record, he insists – and I am sure he doesn’t mind me saying this – that the deal is going ahead and he will be able to answer, satisfactorily, the pending questions the EFL asked him,” Obayiuwana revealed in a tweet.

While speaking about his plight on a podcast with former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand, Mmobousi explained that Sheffield United is the first and only team he supports since he felt the energy of the fans in the city and gave in to the idea of owning the club.

“I am now a fan of this club. I told my wife a couple of years ago that maybe one day when I get involved in soccer, I will only get to support the club I own. The only team I ever supported is the Super Eagles and I still support them till date, and that’s my national team,” Mmobousi said lady year.

Sheffield United are second on the English Championship table and in good position for the Premier League promotion with 73 points from 38 games.
