Chimamanda’s letter undermines Nigeria’s democracy, incites Obidients – Fani-Kayode

Social critic, Femi Fani-Kayode has knocked Chimamanda Adichie over her letter to United States President, Joe Biden.

The author had condemned the election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu and the conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

In a statement on Saturday, Fani-Kayode said Nigeria does not need any lessons from an “overrated and Igbocentric new age diva”.

He called the letter “a litany of unwholesome mendacities designed to undermine our democracy, impress her global audience and incite her local ‘Obidient’ tribesmen against the state”.

FFK accused Chimamanda of “self-serving, self-seeking, jaundiced, subjective, partial, primitive, tribal observations and implausible ethnoreligious sentiments”.

The former presidential aide said if anyone needs to know that lawlessness has consequences, “it is her candidate Peter and not the people”.

Fani-Kayode noted that anyone running to foreign leaders to report compatriots for validation “is not worthy of being called a human being let alone a Nigerian”.

“Africa has come of age. We do not need to get a congratulatory note from any Western nation before we sleep well at night,” the statement added

The former minister called Chimamanda’s memo “nothing but a long-winded, empty, tendentious and boring epistle of dishonest garbage”.

He added that no nation or people are perfect and that the America she is reporting to “is also in many ways questionable, flawed and faced with many challenges”.

Fani-Kayode advised the novelist to stop denigrating her nation from a foreign land and stop complaining about Nigeria “to her slave masters”.
