The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has dispatched a delegation to Saudi Arabia for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which outlines the guidelines for the 2023 Hajj. This announcement was made by the commission’s Assistant Director of Information and Publications, Mousa Ubandawaki, in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja. The delegation is led by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubair Dada, and includes notable figures such as Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Abubakar Nalaraba, Chairman of the House Committee on Pilgrimage. Additionally, the team comprises Zikrullah Hassan, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, along with several board members, stakeholders, and staff.

Ubandawaki emphasized that the signing of the MoU would mark the beginning of operational activities for the 2023 Hajj. He reassured that the commission is committed to ensuring a successful Hajj operation this year. To achieve this goal, NAHCON is actively engaging all stakeholders to foster synergy and enhance service delivery. He appealed to stakeholders and the general public for their cooperation, constructive feedback, and objective criticism, which will contribute to a more successful Hajj operation.

During their visit to Saudi Arabia, the NAHCON team has a packed itinerary that includes attending an exhibition on Hajj and Umrah, as well as meetings with the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). The delegation will also hold discussions with the Mutawif Company for Africa Non-Arab Countries, Adillah Establishment in Madinah, and the Deputy Minister of Hajj for Umrah and Ziyarah in Madinah. Furthermore, the team plans to meet with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s Pilgrims’ E-track System Department, the General Cars Syndicate, the United Agents Office, the Islamic Development Bank, and executives from the State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards, Agencies, and Commissions, as well as representatives from the Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria, among others.
