The Delta State police command has arrested a man identified as Samuel after his teenage friend died from an alleged tramadol overdose in Samuel’s apartment. According to Metro, the deceased died on Thursday, April 7, 2023, at about 2:00 p.m. in Samuel’s residence on Okuku Street, Ovwian town, Udu Local Government Area.

A local resident named Jane told our correspondent that the victim, known as “Bros,” was seen that Thursday taking the drug after Samuel sent someone to purchase it for them. After the two took the tramadol, Samuel left to play football in a nearby field. When he returned shortly afterward, he found his friend lying unconscious on the floor. A neighborhood nurse later confirmed that the victim had died.

A neighbour, who requested anonymity, said, “I knew it would come to this with the way Samuel and his friends took drugs and misbehaved. It was way too much for any sane person.”

Our correspondent learned that Samuel remains in custody at the Ovwian Police Station. Attempts to obtain further details from the Divisional Police Officer of Ovwian Division, Mr. Ayodele Kunle, were unsuccessful. However, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident when contacted.
