The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) is working to restore power to Minna and its surrounding areas after a windstorm damaged some of its equipment and installations. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that a heavy windstorm struck on Sunday night, followed by a downpour.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Minna, Alhaji Adamu Muhammed, the Regional Public Relations Officer for AEDC’s Niger Region, announced the interruption. Titled “Public Announcement on Power Interruption,” the statement read: “The management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, Niger Region, wishes to inform its esteemed customers that there will be power supply interruption in Minna, the state capital, and its environs. The power interruption currently being faced was as a result of heavy windstorm and rainfall yesterday, which caused serious damage to our equipment and installations. However, our team of engineers is working round the clock to address the problems and restore normal power supply.”
The company expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to electricity consumers in the area. The News Agency of Nigeria observed the company’s technical team on Sunday working on the power lines in Minna and its suburbs to restore electricity supply.
