Rivers: Police arrest cops assaulting man in viral video

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that the three officers assaulting a yet-to-be-identified man in a viral video have been identified and arrested.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this known on his Twitter handle while replying to a tweet on the assault on Monday evening.

The tweep has posted a viral video shared on showing the moment a police officer was beating and slapping a man in Port Harcourt, Rivers State with the caption, “A family man being assaulted in front of his wife by police, this is sad @policeNg.”

Adejobi quoted and replied to the tweet saying, “These men have been arrested, and their commander will personally bring them to the Force Headquarters tomorrow Tuesday for further actions.

“They are three in number, attached to RRS, Rivers State.

“Their action does not portray the police in a good light at all,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Force PRO  had earlier condemned the action of the policeman describing it as unfortunate

He stressed, “I have asked the Rivers State Command to fish them out.

“This is unpolice, unethical, and condemned.

“Whatever the man must have done, he doesn’t deserve this beating.

“Beating him like a baby?? A grown-up man? We will surely get the men.”
