The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ebonyi has confirmed that 12 passengers died in a road traffic accident on Tuesday. Sector Commander Uche Chukwurah told reporters in Abakaliki that the crash occurred at the Ezillo end of the Enugu‑Abakaliki‑Ogoja highway. The collision involved a white Ford shuttle bus, registration number EBJ 350 XA, and a pink articulated vehicle that had no registration plates.

Fourteen people were involved in the accident; twelve were killed—ten males and two females—and two others sustained serious injuries. The crash happened at about 10 a.m. The injured passengers were taken to Alex‑Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki for treatment.

The FRSC expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of their souls. “We urge motorists to realise that life has no duplicate and to drive safely,” the sector commander added.

An eyewitness, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria on condition of anonymity, said the vehicles collided while traveling at high speed.
