The Osun State government ordered the immediate closure of the Ife‑Ede Road for three weeks on Tuesday, as construction work began on a section of the road in Ile‑Ife. The directive was issued after Governor Ademola Adeleke inspected the area, including a collapsing bridge, and instructed the State Ministry of Works to mobilise and repair the road without delay.

In a statement obtained in Osogbo and signed by Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson, the Ministry was confirmed to have already deployed teams to the site to commence construction. The announcement informs the public that construction activities will take place in the Elewe Iran area along the old Ife‑Ede Road. Motorists and other road users are urged to use alternative routes or the express road to reach Ile‑Ife during this period.

The three‑week project focuses on repairing a dangerous culvert near the Obafemi Awolowo University campus. Authorities ask commuters to be patient while the essential work is carried out.
