Three injured as truck crashes into Niger mosque

A truck on Tuesday crashed into a mosque in Suleja, Niger State, leaving three persons, including a child severely injured.

An eyewitness, Usman Haruna, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said the accident occurred around 6am when the majority of the worshipers who converged for the early morning prayers had dispersed.

Haruna said, “The accident occurred around 6am when many people had left the mosque after the morning prayers and only a few were left to complete their supplications when the truck fell at the back section of the mosque.

“The truck fell when the driver tried to turn on a narrow road very close to the mosque.”

He said some worshippers including women and a child were trapped in the rumbles, adding that the trailer fell on the back section of the mosque where women and children pray.

“Three people, including a child, were trapped in the rubble but were later rescued and taken to the general hospital in Suleja for treatment,” he said.
