Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved the appointment of principal officers for the newly established University of Ilesa. In a statement obtained in Osogbo on Thursday, the governor’s spokesperson Olawale Rasheed announced that Prof. Taiwo Asaolu of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile‑Ifẹ, has been appointed the pioneer Vice Chancellor. Mr. Funso Ojo was named Registrar, Dr. Mukaila Oyekanmi will serve as Bursar, and Mr. Adewale Ogunsipe has been appointed Librarian.
Before his current role, Prof. Asaolu, a professor of Accounting and Finance, served as Dean of the Faculty of Administration at OAU. He also chaired the University of Ilesa review panel, a committee established by Governor Adeleke to resolve outstanding issues and facilitate the university’s launch.
Rasheed added that the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Teslim Igbalaye, who issued the appointment letters, met with the new officers in his office. He urged them to uphold the professionalism and integrity that earned them the governor’s confidence and led to their selection.
