2023 election: Ogun Speaker, Oluomo knows fate today

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo will today know his fate as a candidate in the 2023 election.

Oluomo is contesting for the fourth time to represent Ifo Constituency 1 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Media Talk Africa reports that the election initially, which held on March 18, was keenly contested between Oluomo and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okikiola Ogundele, a son of the PDP Chairman in Ogun, Sikirulahi Ogundele.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the Ifo Constituency 1 election inconclusive because the margin of lead is not up to the number of PVCs collected in a polling unit where election was cancelled.

Media Talk Africa reports that INEC had announced the cancellation of the result in Unit 04 of Ifo Ward 01 due to over-voting.

INlEC said the election in Unit 04 of Ifo Ward 1 would be held today to conclude the process and declare a winner.

The electoral umpire, while declaring the election inconclusive, said the APC had scored 7, 379 votes, while the PDP polled 6, 411 votes.

Media Talk Africa reports that 1,596 persons are expected to take part in today’s election, while the margin of lead is 968.
