It was with great excitement that Sonia Patterson arrived at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. The philanthropist and founder of the Sonia Patterson Cares Foundation was welcomed in grand style by beneficiaries, volunteers, and members of the press. During the reception, she granted an interview, expressing her love for the Nigerian weather and the hospitality she received.
Patterson shared her plans to extend charitable assistance to needy children on the streets of Lagos, as well as to the elderly and orphanages. She also revealed an upcoming visit to Asaba in Delta State to implement additional philanthropic projects and to feature in a film she produced, *Cheaters Paradise – The Web of Deceit Series*. The movie includes performances by notable actors such as Queen of the South, Uche Odoputa, Emeka Maicon, and Sharon Ifedi. The Cheaters Paradise Entertainment & International Awards are scheduled for September 23, 2023, at the Ochid Hotel in Asaba, Nigeria.
Accompanied by her daughter, Keisha Williams, Patterson spent two weeks in Nigeria bringing joy to children and the elderly. She was honored with an Appreciation Award presented by popular Nigerian actor John Batiki (Shaggy Bee) and conferred by Mr. Emeka Amakaze in recognition of her philanthropic work and her efforts to lift many Nigerians out of poverty. A highlight of her visit was meeting, for the first time, a boy named Blessed, whom she had adopted prior to traveling to Nigeria. She expressed happiness at having changed his life and hopes he will grow into a successful young man who will continue her legacy of charity.
During her stay, Patterson experienced the local entertainment scene, attended Nigerian parties, and visited beaches and tourist attractions in Lagos and Asaba. She praised the staff and volunteers of her foundation, especially Mr. Rica Oyama Missang—whom she described as the backbone of the organization—and Mr. Uchenna Aliri, Executive Secretary and PA of the Sonia Patterson Cares Foundation, for making her visit successful and memorable.
Patterson said she will miss Nigeria and plans to return next year for more philanthropic projects. Before that, she intends to travel to Ghana to extend her charitable efforts to Ghanaians, hoping to continue her work throughout her lifetime.
