The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has been declared the winner of the state’s governorship election following Saturday’s supplementary poll. Independent National Electoral Commission Returning Officer Prof. Saidu Yusuf announced that Idris received 409,225 votes, while his closest rival, General Aminu Bands of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 360,940 votes.

The announcement sparked celebrations across the state, whereas PDP supporters expressed disbelief at their loss. In his acceptance speech, Idris pledged to form an all‑inclusive government and to build on the achievements of Governor Abubakar Bagudu. He thanked his supporters, saying, “Let me use this opportunity to thank our teeming supporters who turned out en masse to vote the APC into office and continue enjoying the dividends of democracy.” He also appealed to opponents, stating, “To those we contested with from other parties, you should know we have no other state than Kebbi. You should therefore join hands with us to move the state forward.”
