The Independent National Electoral Commission announced on Sunday night that 29‑year‑old Akarachi Amadi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, won the supplementary election for the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency of Imo State held on Saturday.

Prof. Boniface Okoro, the Federal Constituency Returning Officer, presented the results at the collation centre in Nworuibi, Mbaitoli Local Government Area. He reported that Amadi secured the highest number of votes, receiving 21,372. His closest rival, Uche Ogbuagu of the Labour Party, obtained 18,296 votes.

The incumbent, Henry Nwawuba of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, garnered 7,202 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Usmond Ukanacho, received 6,681 votes; Chinonso Uba of the African Democratic Congress scored 4,100 votes; and Godstime Chukwunuikem of the Social Democratic Party obtained 246 votes.

Following the announcement, the area erupted in jubilation as the 29‑year‑old was declared the winner.
