Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has appointed a 28‑member transition committee to facilitate the handover of power to the incoming governor. The appointment was announced in a statement issued to journalists in Sokoto on Monday and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mainasara Ahmad. The committee will be chaired by the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Munir Dan’iya, with the Secretary to the State Government serving as co‑chair.
The committee’s mandate includes collating and documenting achievements of the current administration from 2015 to 2023 across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). It will also obtain and analyse reports on ongoing projects and programmes, assessing their execution level, fiscal profile, constraints, and other relevant factors. A comprehensive hand‑over note for the incoming administration is to be prepared and ready by May 15.
In addition to preparing the hand‑over note, the committee will organise a befitting swearing‑in ceremony in collaboration with the incoming team and ensure that the new administration receives all necessary support for a swift start. Committee members include:

– Bello Abubakar, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education; Lema Abubakar, Commissioner for Health; Prof. Aminu Abubakar, Commissioner for Agriculture; and Prof. Abdulkadir Junaidu, Commissioner for Animal Health.
– Isah Bajini, Commissioner for Rural Development; Prof. Aisha Madawaki, Commissioner for Higher Education; Aminu Bala, Commissioner for Land and Housing; and Dahiru Yusuf, Commissioner for Water Resources.
– Abubakar Maikudi, Commissioner for Internal Security; Abdullahi Maigwandu, Commissioner for Local Government; Bashir Gidado, Commissioner for Youth and Sport; and Kulu Sifawa, Commissioner for Women Affairs.
– Kabiru Aliyu, Special Adviser on SDGs; Chika Umar, Special Adviser, Primary Health Care Development Agency; Dr. Amamatu Yusuf, Special Adviser, SOCHEMA; and Ibrahim Magaji, Special Adviser on Political Matters.
– Abubakar Mohammed, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture; Muazu Madawaki, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Internal Security; Arzika Bodinga, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget; Mahmoud Kilgori (A&GSD); and Naziru Bala, Cabinet Affairs.
The committee’s secretariat is composed of Dahiru Abbas, Permanent Secretary (Ministry of Finance) as Secretary; Bande Rikina, Permanent Secretary (Cabinet Affairs) as Co‑Secretary; and Abdulkadir Ahmad, Director of Security as Assistant Secretary.
