Eid-el-Fitr: Etsu Nupe urges Muslims to pray for smooth transfer of power

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Yahaya Abubakar has charged the Muslim faithful to fervently pray for the smooth and successful handover of power to the incoming administration

Abubakar made the call while addressing his subjects shortly after the two Raka’at prayers at the Eid praying ground at Bida, Bida local government, saying fervent and continuous prayers would ensure a peaceful transition of power.

He said, “There is the need for Muslims to pray fervently for successful handing over to incoming administration and for God Almighty to guide and guard them to deliver to the people the much-needed dividends of democracy”.

He also noted that security challenges such as insurgency, banditry and kidnapping would be surmounted through ceaseless prayers by both Muslim and Christian faithful in the country.

The royal father urged Nigerians to live in peace with one another devoid of tribal and religious sentiments to foster peace, national unity as well as economic growth.

The traditional ruler used the occasion to appeal to well-to-do Muslims in the society to continue to support the less privileged to alleviate their suffering.

“I congratulate the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast. I want to use this occasion to call on wealthy individuals to continue to support the poor so as to alleviate their sufferings in society,” Abubakar appealed.

While urging Muslims to always follow the path of dialogue in resolving differences, rather than violence, he stated, “Only tolerance and patriotism would help the country sail through the present situation in the country.

The Chief Imam of Bida, Sheikh Adamu Liman-Yakatun, in his sermon, advised the Muslim faithful to internalize and practice all the lessons of Ramadan
