EPL: What Arsenal must do to win title after 3-3 draw with Southampton – Carragher

Former Liverpool captain, Jamie Carragher has said Arsenal must go to Manchester City and take all three points on Wednesday, if they are to win the Premier League title.

The Gunners saw their title hope take a hit following a 3-3 draw with Southampton on Friday night.

The league leaders went two goals down to the Saints, thanks to goals from Carlos Alcaraz and Theo Walcott.

But Gabriel Martinelli pulled one back for Arteta’s men.

Duje Caleta-Car then extended Southampton’s lead from a corner kick, before goals from Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka earned a point for Arsenal.

Carragher, speaking to Sky Sports, said: “You can feel the disappointment. It was such a great game for the neutrals but for both teams, it will be disappointing.

“Arsenal have to go to City and get three points to win the league now I think.

“It is still in Arsenal’s hands and that shows how far ahead they were. They are going to have to do something miraculous now. It is going to have to be really special.”

The result leaves the league leaders five points ahead of Manchester City, who they face at the Etihad next Wednesday.
