NWC has reinstated Dienye Pepple as Rivers LP chairman – Reuben

The National Vice Chairman South South of the Labour Party, Favour Reuben, says the National Working Committee of the party has mandated Dienye Pepple to pilot the affairs of the party in Rivers State.

Recall that Pepple was suspended by the former National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, and the state exco of the party following their endorsement of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara.

However, Reuben said the national leadership of the party had given him a letter mandating Pepple to take over the affairs of the party in the state.

He noted that Pepple remains the authentic chairman of the Labour Party in Rivers State, adding that he has gotten a court order to that effect.

He said the letter conferring Hilda Dokubo as the Steering Committee Chairman of the party in the state, by Abure in the absence of a state chairman, expired on the 9th of April.

“Regarding the Labour Party issue in Rivers State, the authentic chairman of the Labour Party in Rivers State is Dienye Pepple and no other person.

“Initially, the former National Chairman gave a letter to Hilda Dokubo as Chairman of the Steering Committee in Rivers State, and it expired on the 9th of this month. So she seizes to be chairman of the Steering Committee

“Dienye Pepple has gotten a court order, and the new exco in the National has given me a letter, mandating him to take over the leadership of the party in Rivers State.” He said

Reuben also denied allegations suggesting he is responsible for the crisis rocking the party in Rivers State.

He said he could not destroy a party he built.
