CAF Confederation Cup: Rivers United fall to Young Africans in Uyo

Rivers United fell to a 2-0 defeat against Young Africans of Tanzania in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final tie at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday afternoon.

No goal was recorded in the first half despite both teams creating a number of chances.

Rivers United caved in under pressure 17 minutes from time with Democratic Republic of Congo forward, Fiston Mayele putting Young Africans ahead.

Mayele doubled the visitors advantage

in the 81st minute.

Rivers United now walk tight rope and will need to score three goals without conceding in the reverse fixture to scale through.

The second leg will take place at the Benjamin Nkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam next week Sunday.
