Court orders GTBank to pay N5.7m to Muhuyi Rimingado from Kano govt account

The National Industrial Court, Abuja has ordered GTBank to pay the ousted chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhuyi Rimingado, the sum of N5,713,891.22 from the salary account of the state government.

The amount is Mr Rimingado’s accrued salary arrears, following his suspension in July 2021.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Rimingado was suspended by the state government after opening probe into some contracts allegedly awarded to companies linked to the governor’s family.

In the resumed hearing on Tuesday, the bank through its lawyer Joshua Shekwolo told the court in an affidavit that the Kano State Government indeed maintains an account with the bank and the aggregate sum of N5,713,891.22 being the judgement sum in the matter has been blocked in the account.

Granting the absolute order, Justice O.O Oyewumi ordered GTBank to pay the money into Mr Mr Rimingado’s account within 48 hours.

The order was granted after the failure of the state government to honour the December 14, 2022 judgement of the court, ordering payment and recognition of Mr Rimingado as substantive chairman of the anti-graft commission.
