Buhari reappoints Dabiri-Erewa as NiDCOM chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari has reappointed Abike Dabiri-Erewa as the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).

The notice was contained in a memo the President sent to the Senate requesting the confirmation of her reappointment.

Previously Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, the former broadcast journalist was named NIDCOM chair in November 2018.

The letter was sent to the Senate then but the Red Chamber confirmed her appointment in May 2019, the month Buhari was inaugurated for a second term.

Dabiri-Erewa Dabiri represented Ikorodu federal constituency of Lagos in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2015.

The 60-year-old politician chaired the House Committee on Media and Publicity, and later the Committee on Diaspora Affairs.

Born in Jos, capital of Plateau, Dabiri-Erewa, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), holds the OON national honour.
