The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday held State Congress where a new set of state executives were elected.

Also during the exercise, three delegates elected in each of the 332 wards in the state voted for all 39 aspirants cleared to participate in the Congress.

Addressing the gathering, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, called on members of the party to support the new executives.

He said, β€œI call on all PDP members to unite behind the new executives that will be elected today. Let’s hold the banner of love high. Unity is very key, we need all of us to join hands together and move the PDP from strength to strength.

β€œTo the PDP members, be assured that your government is working. Dividend of democracy is here and is here to stay. To Osun people, this PDP government is for the people, of the people and by the people.”

Earlier, the Congress chairman, Samuel Omotoso, urged members to exercise their rights in peace in the interest of the party and to ensure unity within the PDP fold in the state.

Meanwhile, an ex-aspirant for the post of the state chairman of the party, Mr Funmiso Babarinde, while reacting to the exercise in a statement he personally signed, obtained in Osogbo, alleged alienation of many party members in the process leading to the Congress.

He, however, congratulated the new executives of the party and urged the chairman and his team to embark on genuine reconciliation and ensure that no party member was left behind.
