The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, in commemoration of the 2023 International Firefighters Day, held a two-day workshop to train its officials in managerial skills. The workshop, which took place in Ikeja between Thursday and Friday, was themed, ‘Effective communication skills; An essential management tool’. According to a statement by the Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Ololade Agboola, the workshop was aimed at sharpening the managerial skills of officers in charge of the state fire stations. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mobolaji Ogunlende, spoke on the need to raise competency among personnel who were saddled with the responsibility of managing taxpayers’ resources. He also paid tributes to the memory of late firefighters while saluting those in service of humanity in line with the day’s global celebrations. The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Adeseye Margaret, admonished the officers to see the workshop as an opportunity to learn, unlearn and relearn. She noted that the government had invested a lot in the agency, hence the need to build human capacity to be efficient managers of these resources.
