U-17 AFCON: Burkina Faso coach, Traore plots Golden Eaglets fall

Burkina Faso head coach, Brahima Traore says his side will fight hard to beat the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria to the semi-final ticket at the ongoing 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Algeria.

The Burkinabes booked their spot in the last eight after a hard-fought 2-1 win against Cameroon on Sunday night.

Traore’s side will face the Golden Eaglets in the quarter-finals at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, Algiers on Thursday.

It will be the second meeting between both teams in less than a year after the Eaglets defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 in the final of the WAFU B Championship.

The winner of the tie is also guaranteed a place in the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The gaffer hinted that his team will prepare well for the game.

“We had two objectives in this tournament; first to get to the semi-finals and then to fight for the title. We will prepare well for Nigeria to enable us get to the semis and earn the World Cup ticket,” Traore told CAFonline.
