The Buckingham Palace has announced September 19 as the date for the funeral service of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen died on Thursday at the Balmoral Castle at the age of 96 in the presence of her children and grand-children.
According to the Palace, the funeral would hold by 11.00am that day.
On that same day King Charles has declared a Bank Holiday in respect of her mother and for the funeral.
A bank holiday means that all banks in the UK would be shut for the funeral
The UK Guardian reports that at present, the Queen lied in the ballroom of Balmoral Castle in an oak coffin covered with the Royal Standard for Scotland and with a wreath of flowers laid on top.
It is a “scene of quiet dignity”, allowing her Balmoral estate staff to pay their last respects, a palace spokesperson said.
The Queen’s body will embark on its journey to the nation’s capital ahead of her state funeral on Monday 19 September.
People will be given the chance to pay their respects to the Queen, as her body will be placed in the Palace of Holyroodhouse and Westminster Hall for people to see her coffin – a tradition known as lying in state.
King Charles III will also embark on a tour of all four nations that make up the UK, according to the BBC.
