Sudan decries rebel militia’s attack on worshipers as barbaric

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the recent attack on worshipers by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The attack, which the ministry described as a gross violation of human rights and international law, occurred at Al-Masalma Church in Omdurman. According to the Sudanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohamed Abdelmannan, the RSF carried out the terrorist attack in breach of the armistice agreement and societal norms. The rebel militia reportedly fired indiscriminately at the worshippers, wounding three individuals with bullets. They also beat the priest, ransacked the home for elderly women and the dormitory for girls, and searched for money to steal. In response to the barbaric behaviour, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the international community and human rights organisations to condemn the RSF’s criminal actions. The ministry urged the international community to consider the rebel militia a terrorist organisation and hold them legally and morally responsible for their actions. This latest attack on worshipers and places of worship by the RSF has been met with widespread condemnation from around the world. As such, it is necessary for the international community to take a stand against this kind of senseless violence and bring the perpetrators to justice.
