Mr Latin Barred from Paying His Last Respects to Murphy Afolabi by Area Boys

An unfortunate incident occurred on Monday afternoon as some youths at Mopelufa, Adamo, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, where popular Yoruba actor, Murphy Afolabi was to be buried, prevented Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin, from accessing the burial ground.

The youths, who identified as “omo adugbo,” insisted that Mr Latin settle them before they would grant him access to the burial ground to say his final goodbye and pay his respects to his departed colleague.

Mr Latin, who is the President of the Theatre Arts and Movies Practitioners Association of Nigeria, had arrived at the location around 3:00 pm for the burial ceremony. However, the unexpected incident created chaos among attendees before the issue was later resolved, and Mr Latin was eventually granted access to Afolabi’s burial ground.

As of the time of filing this report, the body of the deceased had yet to arrive at the venue for burial. It was later learned that this unexpected delay was due to unresolved logistical issues centred around moving the body from the mortuary to the burial ground.

Many Nigerians have expressed their dismay at the persistent issue of area boys disrupting events and causing unnecessary chaos and frustration for people. Although the issue was eventually resolved, it highlights the need for the government to address the issue of street urchins and take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
