Super Eight Tournament to Bring More Competition to NNL – Head of Operations, Adesanya

The Nigeria National League (NNL) is set to raise the bar of its competitiveness with the upcoming Super Eight tournament, according to the league’s Head of Operations, Emmanuel Adesanya.

Speaking during a media chat held at the league secretariat in Abuja, Adesanya expressed his confidence that the tournament would produce the best teams that would be joining the prestigious Nigeria Premier Football League next season.

“The Super Eight tournament will only make the league more competitive,” Adesanya stressed.

He further noted that the tournament would feature the top four teams from the Northern and Southern Conferences of the NNL, who will vie for a slot in the NPFL.

“The tournament would produce the best teams that will be joining the NPFL next season, no doubt about that,” Adesanya added.

It will be recalled that the NNL had initially planned to have the Super Four tournament, but due to the challenging 2020 football season, the league’s management decided to increase the number of participating teams and renamed it the Super Eight tournament.

The Super Eight tournament, which will hold in Enugu, is expected to commence on November 6th, 2021.

The NNL, which is the second tier of professional football in Nigeria, has produced some of the country’s finest soccer talents in recent times.
