Flying Eagles Arrive in Mendoza for U-20 World Cup, Set to Clash with Dominican Republic

The Nigerian U-20 national team, also known as the Flying Eagles, have arrived at their base in Mendoza, Argentina ahead of their opening game against the Dominican Republic in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The team, led by coach Ladan Bosso, spent the last ten days in Buenos Aires participating in a rigorous camping program aimed at fine-tuning their skills and tactics before the tournament.

The Flying Eagles will take on debutants Dominican Republic at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza on Sunday in their first Group D match. Their second game against Italy will hold at the same venue on May 24. Finally, the team’s last group game against five-time champions Brazil is scheduled for La Plata on May 27.

No doubt the Flying Eagles are hoping to improve on their previous performance in this competition, having finished as runners-up twice in their history. The team will be confident in their ability to reach the summit of the tournament this year, with the squad comprising of some of Nigeria’s most talented young prospects.

The 2023 U-20 World Cup is scheduled to run from May 20 to June 11, and all eyes will be on the Flying Eagles as they take to the field against the Dominican Republic, with their sights firmly set on victory.
