Catholic Church Celebrates Gov. Ugwuanyi’s Achievements at Thanksgiving Mass

Priests from the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka and parishioners of St. Patrick’s Parish, Ohom Orba Catholic Community in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, gathered recently for a Thanksgiving Mass to celebrate the achievements of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. During the occasion, the parishioners highlighted the numerous remarkable achievements of Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration in all sectors of development in Enugu State, especially its legacy projects in Orba, Udenu Local Government Area and Enugu North Senatorial District (Nsukka zone).

The Parish Priest of St. Patrick’s Parish, Ohom Orba, Reverend Father Dr. Evaristus Emeka Isife, expressed his appreciation to God for Governor Ugwuanyi’s positive impact on the lives of the parishioners of St. Patrick’s Parish, Ohom Orba, and the people of the community. He stated that despite the challenging economic climate, limited resources, public health, and security confronting the country, Governor Ugwuanyi remained focused on delivering numerous projects in Enugu State.

The Catholic Community listed notable projects such as the dualisation of Opi-Nsukka road with street and traffic lights, construction of new classroom blocks and renovation of dilapidated ones in most primary schools in Enugu State, construction of Agu-Orba road, Orba-Imilike-Obollo Afor-Amalla road, Imilike Ani-Ezimo Uno-Ezimo Agu road, construction of ring roads within Ohom Isiamanato, rehabilitation of Opi-Makurdi federal road, construction and equipping of Type-3 Hospital, Amalla Orba (and in nine other locations across the state), and the establishment of the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS) Igbo-Eno, Enugu State.

The thanksgiving Mass, which was attended by Governor Ugwuanyi, was celebrated by Reverend Monsignor Bernard Ik. Ngwoke, the Parish Priest of St. Jacob’s Parish, Orba and the Dean of Orba Deanery, Reverend Father John Chibueze Ushi, and a host of other concelebrating priests.

The event culminated in the conferment of the title of Ide Ka Ide 1 of St. Patrick’s Parish, Ohom Orba, on Governor Ugwuanyi by the Parish Priest, Reverend Father Dr. Isife on behalf of the church.

In his goodwill message, the traditional ruler of Ohom Orba Autonomous Community, HRH Igwe Evaristus Uchenna Onah, commended the governor for his landmark achievements in the state and Nsukka zone in agreement with his promises in his inaugural address. Also present at the event were the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Enugu, Professor Malachy Okwueze, the State Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) and Chairman of Udenu LGA, Honourable Solomon Onah, and other prominent personalities.

The Thanksgiving Mass provided an opportunity for the people of Enugu State to appreciate a selfless leader who made concerted efforts towards the development and growth of the state. It underscores the importance of good governance, effective leadership, and a collective commitment towards building a society that works for all.
