Davido’s Team Requests $5m for Endorsement Deal, Says CEO of Billpoint

Afrobeat sensation, Davido, and his team have reportedly requested a whopping $5 million as an endorsement fee for a full calendar year. This information was disclosed by the CEO of Billpoint, Linus Williams, on his Instagram page yesterday.

Williams, who had made an inquiry about Davido’s endorsement fee, received an email response from the musician’s team stating that any endorsement deal would cost $5 million and was subject to review at the end of the contract period. The post on Instagram read, “Hello Mr Williams, thank you for your email. Davido’s endorsement fee is $5m for a full calendar year and is subject to review at the end of the endorsement period. Kindly let me know how you would like to proceed.”

It was reported that Williams had offered an initial N150 million (approximately $205,000), but the musician’s team came up with a far more significant price tag.

Linus Williams, an Anambra tech guru, is the founder and CEO of the Billpoint app, which was launched in April 2023. The app facilitates the easy purchase of airtime, data, and payment of utility bills for electricity and cable TV. Since its launch, the app has seen significant growth.

Davido, known for his hit songs and widely recognized as one of the biggest artists in Africa, is also known to be a brand ambassador for several companies, including Infinix, Travelbeta, and others.

In the highly competitive world of brand endorsements, it is typical for celebrities to command such high fees. The question now is, which company can afford Davido’s hefty endorsement fee? Only time will tell.
