President Buhari Unveils N19.6 Billion Nigeria Customs Headquarters in Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated the N19.6 billion newly built headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service in Abuja. The building, a 12-floor tower, was unveiled by the President during a tour, inspection, and assessment of the facility on Tuesday, just a few days before the end of his administration.

According to Deputy Comptroller General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi, who spoke during the inauguration, the facility was initiated in 2007 and will boost the regulatory services of Nigeria Customs.

During the same event, President Buhari also unveiled the Second Niger Bridge and six other legacy projects. Speaking at the unveiling, the President justified the country’s massive debt profile due to his administration’s focus on infrastructure development, stating that the projects would have a resounding impact on the country’s economy.

The unveiling of the customs building and other infrastructure projects is part of President Buhari’s vision to improve Nigeria’s economy through the development of critical infrastructure in key sectors, including transportation, power, and agriculture.

The newly inaugurated customs headquarters is expected to enhance the agency’s efficiency in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and border management, further positioning the agency to carry out its regulatory duties more effectively.

The presidency has lauded the achievement, stating that the legacy projects being unveiled were part of the administration’s efforts to leave a solid foundation for the incoming government to build upon.
