EFCC Warns Nigerians to Beware of Fake ‘EFCC Help Desk’

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has alerted Nigerians to be cautious of a scam alert currently trending on social media, which involves fake calls from individuals purporting to be from the commission’s help desk. In a statement made on Tuesday, EFCC’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, declared the alert to be false.

Uwujaren made it known that the EFCC does not have a help desk, and any information purportedly coming from the so-called EFCC HELP DESK did not come from the commission itself. The use of the EFCC in this scam alert could be considered an act of deception.

He further warned the public of the severe implications of falling victim to the scam, adding that the commission would not be held liable if anyone became a victim. The EFCC spokesperson encouraged Nigerians to be wary of questionable information and to verify it with the commission before taking any action.

In conclusion, Nigerians must be careful and vigilant against these scammers. No one should divulge their personal information to anyone purporting to be from EFCC. It is crucial to confirm the authenticity of any information received that claims to have emanated from the commission and to report any suspicious conduct to the confirmed EFCC channels.
