Lionel Messi Heartbroken as Barcelona Parts Ways with Jordi Alba

It was with great sadness that Lionel Messi took to social media to pay tribute to Barcelona’s Jordi Alba after the Blaugrana terminated the defender’s contract. The announcement was made on Wednesday, with the reigning La Liga champions mentioning that the decision was mutual. Alba’s departure from Barcelona was imminent, and he will bid farewell to the club’s supporters at Camp Nou on Sunday.

In an emotional video released on his social media account, Alba acknowledged his exit from the club and thanked the Catalan side and its fans for the love and support he received over the years.

Lionel Messi, who has been a long-term companion of Alba on and off the pitch, could not help but mourn his beloved teammate’s imminent departure. The Paris Saint-Germain forward penned an emotional post on Instagram, emphasising the special bond he shares with the Spanish defender.

“You were more than a teammate; you were a true companion on the court. And it is equally gratifying to enjoy such an exceptionally well served personal relationship.

“You’re aware of how I always wish you and your family the best. Hopefully, your new stage will continue to bring you many accomplishments and joys. Jordi, thanks for everything,” the PSG forward wrote on Instagram.

Alba joined the Catalan club in 2012, leaving behind Valencia.
