RTEAN Lagos Branch Appoints Aransiola Kudus as Acting Chairman as Court Removes MC Oluomo from Power

The Lagos branch of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has announced Aransiola Kudus as its acting chairman following a court ruling. The Lagos State Government had earlier suspended RTEAN’s activities, dissolved its elected leadership and established a park management committee led by Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, to manage all motor parks in the state.

However, the National Industrial Court of Nigeria nullified the government’s decision, affirming RTEAN’s right to operate in Lagos State. Subsequently, Dr Musa Muhammed Maitakobi, the Executive National President of RTEAN, named Aransiola Kudus, the Deputy Chairman (Administration), as the acting Chairman of Lagos in compliance with RTEAN’s constitution during the trade union’s National Executive Council meeting in Abuja.

Speaking to journalists after the NEC meeting, Comrade Yusuf Adeniyi emphasized RTEAN’s dedication to following the rule of law and the unity of the organisation. He urged all members to collaborate to advance transportation services in Lagos State.

This appointment is a significant development as the association may face opposition from other transportation unions and stakeholders in the wake of the court ruling. The decision to appoint Kudus as acting chairman of RTEAN in Lagos may affect the group’s stance on issues such as negotiations with the government and the welfare of its members.
