Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State will hand over power to the Governor-elect, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Sunday, against the norm of doing so on May 29.
This was contained in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba.
According to him, the ceremony, which will take place on May 28, 2023 by 9 pm at Government House, Kano, became necessary following the governor’s engagement as he would shortly depart for Abuja as head of the state’s delegation to the inauguration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, already, the Kano State Government Transition Committee has communicated the development to the transition committee of the governor-elect, adding that the two committees have met within the week, during which a handing over document was presented and a harmonised agenda worked out.
