North Korea Defends Failed Missile Launch Against U.S. Criticism

North Korea has defended its recent failed missile launch against condemnation from the United States and its allies such as Japan and South Korea. The country had attempted to launch a rocket carrying a military reconnaissance satellite on Wednesday, but it failed to take off successfully.

The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Kim Yo Jong, was quoted in state media as stating, “The U.S. is a group of gangsters who will claim that even if North Korea launches a satellite in space orbit through the balloon, it is illegal and threatening.” This came after the U.S and its allies had accused North Korea of using technology related to its intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) program.

UN resolutions forbid North Korea from carrying out any launch with such rockets, which have the potential of carrying a nuclear warhead depending on its design. North Korea, which is largely isolated internationally, has paid little attention to these resolutions.

The country has repeatedly carried out ballistic missile tests, including several times this year. The U.S. and its allies have expressed concerns over North Korea’s missile and nuclear programs and have been pushing for diplomatic solutions to peacefully resolve the issue.

It is important to note that while reporting on North Korea’s missile activities, it is crucial to adhere to Facebook’s policy on suicide and self-harm. This means avoiding the use of sensational language, images, and videos that may encourage or promote self-harm or suicide.
