Tight Security Presence at Ondo State Assembly Following Speaker’s Alleged Resignation Denial

Amidst confusion and tension on Friday, armed security personnel were sighted at the Ondo State House of Assembly Complex located in the Alagbaka area of Akure, following the purported resignation of the assembly speaker, Bamidele Oloyeloogun.

This latest development comes just days to the end of the 9th Assembly’s tenure, raising concerns among the people regarding the activities within the State House of Assembly.

It was gathered that the assembly complex’s two gates were reportedly blocked by the security officials.

In response to this, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Olugbenga Omole, confirmed the presence of armed security officials at the assembly, as a precautionary measure.

Omole explicitly debunked the rumour of the Speaker’s resignation, highlighting that the signature on the fake letter being circulated was forged, stressing that the Speaker is still the substantive leader of the house.

He also disclosed that some individuals were working to hinder the last sitting of the 9th Assembly scheduled to hold shortly and cautioned the people against falling for rumours and misinformation.
