Kano Assembly adopts motion to end phone snatching,  other crimes

Kano State House of Assembly adopted a motion on Monday to end gang violence, thuggery and criminal activities in the state.

This was sequel to a motion of urgent public importance, moved by the Majority Leader, Alhaji Lawan Hussaini (NNPP-Dala).

He noted that miscreants regularly engaged in thuggery, phone snatching, drug abuse and other social vices capable of disturbing the peace of Kano metropolis.

Contributing to debate on the motion, the Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Muhammad Butu-Butu, (NNPP-Rimingado/Tofa), said if care was not taken, insecurity would escalate in the metropolis as criminal gangs terrorised and harmed residents.

In his contribution, Alhaji Aminu Sa’adu (NNPP-Ungogo) said there was the need for security agencies and other stakeholders to review the situation and recommend solutions.

Another member, Murtala Kore (APC-Dambatta) urged the state government to call on the Commissioner of Police in the state to take urgent steps to arrest the situation.

The House also urged the state government to do everything possible to fish out culprits and bring them to justice to end criminal activities in Kano metropolis.
