Manchester United Captain Harry Maguire Urged to Leave by Rio Ferdinand

In a recent statement, Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United legend, has advised the club’s captain, Harry Maguire, to leave Old Trafford this summer in order to salvage his career.

Ferdinand strongly believes that it would be a disastrous decision for Maguire to remain at Manchester United during this summer’s transfer window.

After completing a record £80 million move from Leicester City to Manchester United in 2019, Maguire’s performance has been inconsistent, marked by costly errors leading to opposition goals.

Under the current Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, Maguire’s position in the squad has been jeopardized. Ten Hag has often opted for other defenders such as Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, and even Luke Shaw at center-back, leaving Maguire on the sidelines.

Expressing his concern, Ferdinand stated, “If Harry Maguire doesn’t leave, I think it would be a terrible decision. He should be eager to play and prove himself.”

Furthermore, Ferdinand hinted that Maguire’s prospects may have diminished since he initially suggested that Newcastle United would have gladly signed the defender before the start of the season. However, Ferdinand expressed skepticism regarding Newcastle’s current interest in Maguire.

Ferdinand’s advice comes as a wake-up call for Harry Maguire, who now faces a crucial decision that could greatly impact his career trajectory.
