Submit your credentials for screening – Oyo lawmakers to commissioner-nominees

In a bid to ensure transparency and accountability in the appointment of new commissioners, the Oyo State House of Assembly has directed the individuals nominated by Governor Seyi Makinde to submit their credentials for proper screening.

This directive was issued during the Assembly’s plenary session in the state capital, Ibadan, on Thursday.

As previously reported by Media Talk Africa, Governor Makinde had submitted the names of seven individuals to the lawmakers for confirmation.

The list comprises six former commissioners and one new nominee, reflecting the governor’s intention to strike a balance between continuity and fresh perspectives.

The commissioner-nominees are Mr. Adeniyi Adebisi, Mr. Akinola Ojo, Prof Musibau Babatunde, Prof Daud Sangodoyin, Mr. Seun Ashamu, Alhaja Fausat Joke Sanni, and Mrs. Toyin Balogun.

During Thursday’s plenary, the Speaker of the House, Adebo Ogundoyin, read out the message from the executive and emphasized the need for the nominees to submit their credentials to the office of the clerk before 5 pm the following day, Friday, June 23, 2023.

Furthermore, it was announced that the screening of the nominees will take place on Tuesday, June 27, with the lawmakers eager to thoroughly evaluate the suitability and competence of each individual before their confirmation.
