INEC Set to Commence Review of 2023 General Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will begin a post-election review of the 2023 general election in July. This decision was disclosed in a statement signed by Mr Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.

The statement, which followed INEC’s regular meeting on Thursday in Abuja, stated that the review is in line with the Commission’s practice over the years. The review will encompass all aspects of the electoral activities conducted before, during, and after the elections.

Mr Okoye further explained that the review process will involve the participation of the Commission’s officials at both the national and state levels, as well as key stakeholders, with the aim of learning valuable lessons and charting the way forward for future elections.

According to Mr Okoye, the review will kick off with a meeting of the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) on July 4 and will culminate in the Commission’s retreat scheduled to take place from August 5.
