The Acting Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Gusau, Prof. Aliyu Gadanga Tsafe, has affirmed that the university’s management and security agencies are working closely together to secure the freedom of the recently abducted students in the Damba area of Gusau.
During a press conference held at his office, Tsafe clarified that the students were not abducted from the university’s premises. He also called on the federal government, private investors, and philanthropists to assist the institution by providing hostel facilities for the growing number of students, considering the prevailing insecurity plaguing the university.
Tsafe attributed the kidnappings in the institution to the absence of adequate fences and on-campus hostels, expressing the management’s discontent with students residing outside the university’s premises.
The Acting Vice Chancellor emphasized the urgent need for additional funds to erect stronger fences that would ensure the safety of both students and staff on campus.
“We currently do not have sufficient accommodation for our students and staff,” Tsafe remarked.
It is worth noting that a group of students from the University were kidnapped last Friday.
