In a bid to enhance efficiency and professionalism within its ranks, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has recently announced the promotion of 7,000 personnel to their respective next ranks.
Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NIS, Mr Kenneth Kure, revealed that the promotion was conveyed through a letter signed by the Secretary of the Immigration, Civil Defense, Correctional and Fire Service Board, Alhaji Jafaru Ahmed.
The statement issued by Mr Kenneth Kure further elaborated on the criteria for the promotions, stating that junior staff members were upgraded based on their acquisition of additional qualifications, while senior officers underwent regular exams to warrant their promotion.
Mr Kure himself has now been elevated to the position of Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, expressing his gratitude to God for the recognition of his hard work and dedication.
Additionally, the Ag Comptroller General of NIS, Wuraola Adepoju, has announced the redeployment of 12 Comptrollers to various states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano, Jigawa, Ondo, Ogun, and Mfum Border Control, among others.
The statement also highlighted the appointment of the former Service spokesman, Tony Akuneme, as the FCT Command’s new Comptroller, and the elevation of Comptroller Joseph Dada as the Principal Staff Officer to the Comptroller General.
During her address to officers and men of the Service at their monthly parade, the CGIS emphasized the importance of upholding the image of the job above personal interests. She assured personnel that their welfare would be prioritized and that future promotions would strictly adhere to seniority.
