Acting Governor of Niger State Urges Citizens to Prioritize Peace and Unity

In a bid to foster peace, love, and unity amongst its citizens, the Acting Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba, has called on Nigerians to set aside ethnic and religious sentiments. The Acting Governor made this appeal following the performance of the two rakaat’s prayer for Eid el Kabir at the Minna Eid prayer ground, led by Chief Imam Minna Central Mosque, Sheikh Ibrahim Fari.

Recognizing that sustainable progress and development are contingent upon peace, Garba emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and urged the people of Niger State to remain peaceful in order to reap the dividends of democracy. He stated, “Though there is a high expectation from Nigerlites in the present government, we will do everything humanly possible to meet their yearnings. However, this cannot be achieved without the contribution of all in the state working together to succeed.”

Expressing gratitude to stakeholders for their support of the present administration, Garba appealed to the people of Niger State to place the interests of the state above personal agendas. By doing so, he believes that maximum results can be achieved in terms of development and progress.

In his remarks, former Niger State Governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, commended the Federal Government for the removal of fuel subsidy. He highlighted that the funds previously allocated for fuel subsidy were being misused and redirected towards other areas instead of their intended purpose. Aliyu argued that if the subsidy does not actually benefit the intended beneficiaries, it should be eliminated.
