According to Folake Ani-Mumuney, the Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at FirstBank, the humanoid robot is part of the bank’s cutting-edge digitally-led self-service branch. Equipped with video banking and artificial intelligence, this groundbreaking creation assumes the role of a friendly branch staff.

In a statement released by the bank, they highlighted the robot’s capabilities, including initiating conversations with customers and having a touch screen strapped to its chest. These features enable the robot to respond to customer inquiries regarding cash deposits, withdrawals, and ATM cards.

Furthermore, the humanoid robot assists with complaint management, as customers can log complaints through a QR code, receiving timely feedback. Additionally, the robot keeps customers informed about the bank’s latest updates, such as product launches and upgrades, enhancing their overall banking experience.

Adesola Adeduntan, the CEO of FirstBank Group, expressed his enthusiasm for this groundbreaking initiative. He emphasized that the addition of the humanoid robot to the bank’s Digital Experience Centre signifies a transformative step toward revolutionizing the banking landscape in Nigeria.

Adeduntan further stated, “With its advanced capabilities, the robot is designed to elevate the quality of our customers’ lives in today’s rapidly evolving digital world. Our commitment to delivering unparalleled banking services remains unwavering as we continue to innovate to meet our customers’ needs.”

This introduction of the humanoid robot is part of the phased configuration of the bank’s Digital Experience Centre, which was launched in December 2021. FirstBank plans to deploy another humanoid robot in its upcoming second Digital Experience Centre, with details set to be announced in the coming months.

The innovative use of a humanoid robot in the banking sector showcases FirstBank’s dedication to providing innovative financial solutions and taking advantage of advancements in artificial intelligence technology.
