Senate Minority Leader: Senator Jarigbe denies G-5 endorsement

In a recent interview with Arise Television, Senator Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe, the representative for Cross River North senatorial district, has refuted claims that some former governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are campaigning for him to become the Senate Minority Leader.

Setting the record straight, Senator Jarigbe stated that although he is qualified for the position, he has never expressed any interest in it. He dismissed the newspaper report that suggested he was being projected for the role.

He said, “I saw in the newspaper that the G5 governors were projecting me for the position of Senate Minority Leader of the 10th Senate. That story is unfounded. I have never indicated an interest in the position, though I’m qualified.”

Highlighting his extensive political experience, Senator Jarigbe emphasized that he has been elected to the National Assembly four times, serving as a House of Representatives member twice and as a senator twice.

Addressing the alleged discussions with the G-5 governors, the Senator clarified, “I have never had any discussion with any member of the G-5. The only person I spoke with was the immediate past governor of Rivers State, and he has not mentioned that to me.”
