Atiku’s Aide Warns Tinubu: Avoid Appointing Ex-Governors to Cabinet

An aide to the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Daniel Bwala, has offered some advice to President Bola Tinubu as he prepares to announce his ministerial cabinet.

Bwala cautioned that if Tinubu’s cabinet is comprised of more than 10 percent former governors, it would imply a lack of vision for Nigeria’s future.

He underscored the fact that the majority—90 percent—of former governors in Nigeria failed to effectively govern their states during their tenure.

In a tweet, Bwala urged Tinubu to introduce new faces into his cabinet if he genuinely desires to propel Nigeria forward.

He stated, “If the names of former governors in his cabinet constitute more than 10 percent of the total, then we would know he doesn’t have plans for Nigeria.”

“To begin with, 90 percent of former governors in Nigeria have failed in governing their states where they wielded absolute power.”

“Some former governors have even proven to be unsuccessful as ministers in previous administrations.”

“When he convenes his cabinet meeting, there should be no presence of familiar faces from the past administration.”

“He has more than enough capable individuals at his disposal if he genuinely intends to move this nation forward, with at least six months remaining.”
